TOPIC: The $1M Bonus Goal suggestion.

The $1M Bonus Goal suggestion. 13 Dec 2013 17:20 #3405

There are another 14 days left. $1 Million would be achievable or more.

I suggest for the final goal: Give Larry and Gavin a free reign to enhance the sound/look of Geek Pulse.

There are so many things ex: Better connectors, knobs, resistors, internal wires, isolation feet, DESIGN, etc.

What say you?

With this goal, will leave truly their mark/identity on their product.

I want a carrying case for it

Sleek, Metal exterior...something like this

Existing where there is nothing is the meaning of the phrase "Form is emptiness."
That all things are provided for by nothingness is the meaning of the phrase "Emptiness is form."

I say make the cases a little bigger for more space and maybe have also RCA connectors on the PulseX

Make all Femto PulseX ( Pulse fX :) ) into SE!

Yep that would be swell, but since we have the clock and LPS already, what would be the percentage increase?

We need also better connectors, wires, knobs...overall design..

On a post Larry hoped that the perk should placed in to "good use"...

I say give them a free reign.

If it would lead to SE, then so be it. But I like to give leave him/them his/their personal mark better.

Agreed, let's let them decide. Personally, I am hoping for:

1. Upgrades for the Sole Purpose of Further Improving Sonics: The Pulse is no longer a desktop that simply punches above its weight class, this is a DAC capable of replacing the DAC in a listener's main system, i.e. this is a DAC you can put on your audio rack.

and/or

2. Upscale Design: A bit bigger case with a cool design.

My preference is for #1.

I would strongly prefer that the perks are not additional "convenience" or connectivity features. Also, please keep the LPS designed to power only one device. Let's optimize that sucker for powering just one device. People can always purchase an additional LPS if they need it.

Also, with respect to isolation footers, I prefer that these are not included as there are plenty of aftermarket devices that can be purchased. These devices impact sonics in different ways. They are personal and used to tune components for a users specific taste and system and not a "one size fits all proposition".

I also agree that the perk should be put towards better sound. Some of the SE features are not practical for wide application because they require hand matching of components, but the SE upgrades that are just better parts certainly could be.

I would actually be interested in an LPS that can power multiple devices, as long as it can be accomplished without compromise. You can always use more clean power! I do however think the bonus goal should apply to the everyone that's contributed though, so it should be something applied to the basic Geek Pulse.

There are only 2 things that I'd really like to see:

1) RCA output connectors on the X
2) A special edition color or two would awesome and not too expensive. Champagne? LH Green?

Let's try to crack $1,000,000! :woohoo:

Edit: Or of course anything performance related (i.e. op-amps, etc.) ;)

I think this is a great idea. Larry and the team have worked hard to tweak the design. At this point, Larry is probably the only person who knows where the biggest sonic gain could be obtained. I think from a feature standpoint the Geek Force have pushed Pulse to a great product. Now lets the master place his final touch.

1. I agree that it should apply to all Pulse units (not only X or f)
2. I like the idea of upgraded parts at Larry's discretion. Anything that will improve sound quality.
3. I agree that anti-vibration feet are something that individuals can add later on their own (depending on their own preference, system, etc)
4. It also has to be something that's relatively easy for the LH Labs team to implement.

This campaign seems to have grown beyond anything LH Labs imagined. There are now multiple units (Pulse, LPS, Out, Blue) plus multiple versions of some units (X, f, Out M & EM). With people contributing at different times as new things were offered.

I don't want to presume anything, and I certainly cannot speak on behalf of LH Labs. About a month ago, their project had a budget in the tens of thousands, with a few hundred supporters and several months to implement. Now the budgets is approaching $1m, with thousands of supporters, and LH Labs still has only a few months to implement the plan. Anyone that's worked in product development or project management knows the differences between those 2 scenarios. If I worked logistics for LH Labs, I'd probably be a little afraid. :)

Not sure if he can increase the case size of the Pulse but I would also rather see fixed RCA connectors on the chassis as well, rather than depend on adapters if feasible

I like the idea of deisgners choice a lot. However, and I'm just leaving this out there for discussion, I would like the DAC to be designed as modular as possible ad upgradeable. I dont know if there was any discussion earlier on this, but implementing a FPGA for firmware upgrades, having separate (and user-swappable) PCBs for amp section, dac section, power section etc. etc. would be a great way to make our purchase future proof.

Seconding RCA outputs on the X if it were feasible.

Additionally, this is probably way out there, but how feasible would it be to have a transparent top-cover for the enclosure? Many electronics have wonderful designs that don't get seen unless someone pops off the lid. Or would that probably be violating EMI/RFI regulations.

We broke so many records. Even Indiegogo is surprised for all the strong response from Geek force and our campaign.

All I could say, we made the new history together.

750K will be there soon. I think 850K will be there as well.

$1M? I need to put some good time to think about the goal for that.

The 1M bonus, IMHO, Could be a discount voucher for your next campaign.
I'm sure you' re going to make an amp and i'd love to ALREADY have a discount for that CAMPAIGN.

I mean, a reasonable discount (50/75USD?) for your next project would attract even more people and make a great hype over the internet community and forums.

What you think?

I also think a power amp would be the logical next thing for connecting the pre in Pulse. An integrated would not interest me at all.
We get USB, etc for conneting NAS, PC etc. We get pre amp and headphoneamp. We also get ir to control Pulse vith the remotes we all got i hundreds.

That will be one of my directions as well.

But not only that. If we could, only if we could, hit $1M. That has more symbolic meaning then everything....

That tells the world, people do care about the sound, it's not a hype like 3D printer, smart watch, iPhone controlled flying plane or another new color of Lightning cable...
