I don't imagine the volume knob will have a light on it. It's not a conventional volume pot but a rotary encoder that doesn't have a stop on it. Thus the volume level display would have to be elsewhere.

Makes sense.

I voted for #5 for many reasons. The major was that hopefully, this design will allow the status information to be readable from 10-15 feet away. In the event that I use this as my primary DAC, (a strong possibility!) it will be in a rack that far away and it would really be nice for these old eyes to be able to read the status without requiring binoculars!

That's a good point! When I first contributed to this campaign, I thought the pulse was going to be my new DAC/Headphone Amp for my computer system. Now it looks like it's evolved into a product that will take over digital duty in my main system.

Personally, I can't wait till all this talk about cosmetics is over. Lets start talking about performance! And you think we are divided now.., ;)

I think they may have closed voting, or perhaps there is an issue/bug with it.

Currently, if you have not voted only results are showing up. No radio buttons or selection presently.

I have a feeling they realized there is a lot of confusion, a lot of voting based on misinterpreting the pictures, etc in addition to the landslide victory. Hopefully they listened to Shaw, myself and other likeminded people and will be creating something more rigorously thought out.

How right you are Jay!

I don't think anyone puts cosmetics over and above performance. This principle would apply to any hi-fi component. But there has already rightly been - and will continue to be - lots of discussion around performance. This thread's purpose is to discuss the cosmetics. So let's enjoy being superficial for just a little while! ;)

It looks like we have a winner!

I know some of you are tiring about talking about cosmetics, but this topic is actually VERY important because it drives what materials we use for the chassis, and the layout and quantity of the circuit boards inside. In this case, there needs to be two separate circuit boards.

So now Juha, Mamuda, and I have to get busy and finalize the drawings so we can have our golden sample made. We're on it!

Thank you for helping us decide on this design direction!
